Pierre Cartier kam 1909 nach New York City. Man erzählt, dass er das Herrenhaus in der Fifth Avenue 1917 im Tausch gegen eine außergewöhnliche Perlenkette erwarb. Die Innenräume der Villa, einst ein privates Wohnhaus und heute eine Art Kulturdenkmal, wurden von der Architektin und Designerin Laura Gonzalez neu gestaltet und verbinden anspruchsvollen Luxus mit einer warmen und einladenden Atmosphäre. Für dieses Projekt des Studios Thierry W. Despont LTD leistete Molteni&C seinen Beitrag in Form von ausgewählten Designs.

To bring back to life the boutique as it probably was when Louis Cartier moved into rue de la Paix in the late 19th Century; to imagine the interiors as he would have done; to rebuild them starting from his original archives; to work using the garlanded tables he so loved. This is the approach which guided architects Sylvain and François Dubuisson in their restoration of the historic Paris boutique. And the result of this careful and delicate operation, finished in December 2005, fully justifies the approach, featuring a curated contribution by Molteni&C.
